Our Fisheries

Classic Chalk Stream Fishing

A uniquely extensive and varied portfolio of chalk stream fly fishing

Lower Boyton downstream

Rivers & Lakes

There’s wild fishing for brown trout and grayling, plus some stocked beats. There’s wading and bank fishing. There are rainbows and browns in our lakes, where we also cater for less mobile members

Traditional Fly Fishing

Upstream fishing, with dry flies and nymphs on barbless hooks. All our wild fishing is “catch and release” but members take some good-sized browns from the stocked beats every season

The Fishing Experience

You can easily find solitude or company depending on your mood. There are parking spaces, huts, benches and wading access posts. Sometimes there are neatly-mown banks but often there’s undergrowth. Choose your fishing experience

A World of Choices

There are as many perfect days’ fishing as there are fishers

While many clubs and syndicates restrict fishers to rotating beats on a relatively short stretch of river, or a lake or two, the Society offers members real choices. Some spend all their time after wild trout on secluded stretches, while others love the technical challenges posed by crystal-clear waters.

Those looking to take a fish home head for the beats that hold the stocked trout – or visit our lakes. The variety of our fisheries means that a member could theoretically take all these approaches in a day…

How We Care for These Fisheries

Over many years we have learned how to produce great chalk stream fisheries for our members. With a full-time professional team of four, we have the knowledge and the manpower to develop new ideas and put them into practice.
